Oliveri is a small town in the province of Messina, Sicily. It rises on the slopes of Mount Tindari overlooking the Gulf of Patti.
According to the testimony of Godfrey of Viterbo (chaplain of Charles the Great) Oliveri's name derives from one of the captains of the Emperor who is called Oliver, who would have landed on the coast in front of the promontory. More likely, however, that the name comes from the olive groves are widespread in these areas.
